Delcam will host a workshop on CADCAM developments during CIMES (China International\u00a0Machine Tool Exhibition) in Beijing from 18th to 22nd June. \u00a0The workshop will include\u00a0demonstrations of new functionality in Delcam\u2019s PowerSHAPE Pro CAD software, in the\u00a0PowerMILL CAM system and in the PowerINSPECT inspection software.
\nThe 2014 R2 release of PowerSHAPE Pro includes a range of new functionality for the\u00a0design of products and tooling. \u00a0In particular, the new version introduces powerful new\u00a0tools to make re-engineering complex parts from scanned data faster and easier, plus an\u00a0option to merge disjointed faces within a solid and so make direct modelling operations\u00a0more robust.
\nBy offering a combination of solid, surface and direct modelling, together with reverse\u00a0engineering functionality, PowerSHAPE Pro provides the most comprehensive range of design\u00a0techniques available in a single CAD program. \u00a0Having all the different technologies in\u00a0the same package reduces the need to transfer data between\u00a0multiple\u00a0programs and so\u00a0streamlines the whole product development process. \u00a0At the same time, the combination of\u00a0quick and easy direct modelling options, together with powerful and flexible surface\u00a0modelling, makes PowerSHAPE Pro the perfect choice for design for manufacture.
\nThe 2014R2 release of PowerMILL CAM software includes new options for high-speed and\u00a0five-axis machining of parts and tooling with unprecedented speed and accuracy. \u00a0New\u00a0simulation and customisation tools, plus greater editing flexibility, give even greater\u00a0opportunities to minimise programming times and reduce manufacturing times.
\nA series of improvements to Delcam\u2019s unique Vortex high-efficiency area-clearance\u00a0strategy is also included in the new release. \u00a0Vortex gives fast, safe metal removal by\u00a0allowing solid carbide tooling to cut with its full flute length so minimising machining\u00a0times. \u00a0At the same time, Vortex toolpaths use a controlled engagement angle between the\u00a0cutter and the part, and so give a more consistent volume-removal rate and feedrate,\u00a0minimising wear on the cutter.
\nPowerINSPECT 2014 features a new interface with new icons that makes the software more\u00a0intuitive and even easier to use. \u00a0Other enhancements in the new version include the\u00a0ability to create compound items and so speed up and simplify repetitive measurements.
\nThe new interface has been developed to further improve the ease of use that has been\u00a0central to PowerINSPECT becoming the world\u2019s leading hardware-independent inspection\u00a0software. \u00a0Over the last few releases, the software has seen a significant increase in\u00a0the range of measurements that it can make. \u00a0The software can now be used to take all\u00a0types of simple measurements and to inspect a growing variety of geometric features, as\u00a0well as offering more tools for analysing complex 3D surfaces. \u00a0In addition to making it\u00a0easier to negotiate the greater range of options, the interface features freshly-designed\u00a0icons, which give a cleaner look and feel to the software.<\/p>\n
