\nThe Walter Titex X\u2022treme Pilot 180, a solid carbide drill with internal cooling and a point angle of 180 degrees, will, in future, be available in diameters from 3 to 20 millimetres. Also new is the X\u2022treme D50 (50 x diameter depth capability) as a standard tool in the Walter Titex team of deep-hole drills. Walter still offers the versions up to L to Dc 70 as special tools. Deep holes nearly always require a pilot or start hole.
\nThe X\u2022treme Pilot 180 is the right drill for pilot drilling and spot-facing inclined or convex surfaces. Operations such as counterboring drilled holes to recess bolt heads or protect threads are other possible applications. Walter Titex XD drills (XD stands for “extremely deep”) represent the latest solid carbide deep hole drilling technology with through coolant. XD drills are available as standard in a diameter range from 2 to 16 millimetres, L to D ratios of 8, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40; the most recent addition to the standard range is the X\u2022treme D50, which can be used with emulsion or oil, a typical application being lubrication galleries in engine blocks in the automotive industry, for example. The X\u2022treme D50 is offered as a standard tool in dimensions from 4.5 to 9 mm. The particular feature of the range is that users do not require a high-pressure coolant system or a deep-drilling machine \u2013 with low coolant pressures from 20 bar being quite sufficient, such as are available in many machining centres.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
