By doing so, it is confirmed the organizers’ efficiency and long-standing experience in organizing events and highlighted the skills of the Italian industry as well, currently in fourth and third place in the international manufacturing and export rankings respectively.
List toppers
More than 400 companies have already registered for EMO MILANO 2015 in one month, that’s to say 20% more than the number of applications received in the same period for the 2009 edition. German companies are leading the registration ranking, with Italy, Taiwan, Japan and the USA following close behind.
The world’s biggest factory will be set up over 345,000 square meters at the fieramilano exhibition centre in Rho-Pero where exhibitors will display machine tools, robots, automation systems, additive manufacturing technologies, mechatronic solutions and auxiliary technologies, representing international manufacturers operating in an industry worth 64 billion euro.
“EMO has always been the most important occasion for the world’s manufacturing industry operators to familiarize with the latest manufacturing technologies,” states Pier Luigi Streparava, appointed by CECIMO as General Commissioner for EMO MILANO 2015. This is why we decided to integrate the index of products of the exhibition with additive manufacturing, one of the fastest growing technologies of today to which EMO will devote a particular focus”.
Expected numbers
Exhibitors totalling to 1,600 and around 1,50,000 visitors from approximately 100 countries are expected to take part in EMO MILANO 2015, which will benefit from its co-location with EXPO 2015 when Milan will, take on a completely new façade as well as better mobility due to a reshuffle and enhancement of the city’s transport network.
Thanks to its direct link with the fieramilano exhibition quarter in Rho-Pero, EXPO 2015 will offer EMO participants multiple attractions in the framework of a unique schedule of ancillary events. Thus, the concomitance of EMO and EXPO will foster the emergence of interesting synergies that will benefit the hundreds of thousands of visitors coming to Milan from every part of the world.
Concrete opportunities
“As organizers, adds Pier Luigi Streparava, we are working hard to turn the concomitance of EMO and EXPO into a source of concrete opportunities for our operators through ‘bridge activities’ and a number of ad-hoc services, such as the Hospitality scheme that offers an updated list of accommodation possibilities for individuals participating in EMO MILANO 2015”.
“With this in mind, we have been establishing an array of partnerships that allow operators to reserve accommodation in Milan and its surrounding areas via our website www.emo-milano.com, both before, during and after the exhibition. Furthermore, we provide a parking reservation system”.
“The fact that such a high number of applications have already been filed for the world exhibition of the metalworking industry – suggests Alfredo Mariotti, the Director of EMO MILANO 2015 – reflects a worldwide upward trend in consumption, as anticipated by experts at Oxford Economics”.
Market growth rates
In particular, world consumption is expected to hit 55.9 billion euro in 2014, 59.9 billion euro in 2015 (+7.2%), 64,1 billion in 2016 (+7,1%) and, finally, 67,7 billion in 2017 (+5,6%). Italy will experience remarkable increases in machine tool consumption with growth rates above the European average.
“After having to deal with a tough year in 2013, 2014 was a turning point and the beginning of a new growth period for the consumption of capital goods in Italy. This growth will get stronger and stronger, reaching +4,6% in 2015, +5,9% in 2016, and +8,1% in 2017. These developments will greatly benefit EMO MILANO 2015 and all its participants”, concludes Alfredo Mariotti.

After six years EMO, the world machine tool exhibition, sponsored by CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, will be back in Italy’s prestigious fieramilano exhibition centre, from October 5-10, 2015. The travelling biennial exhibition EMO – whose brand is owned by CECIMO – chose Milan as only alternative location to Hanover.
